KIOGORA MUTAI

MANAGING PARTNER

Kiogora Mutai is the Managing Partner of Kiogora Mutai & Co. Advocates.

He was admitted to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on 22 September, 1989. Two years on, he founded the firm in what was going to be a successful practice amid commercial and constitutional developments in the country. Accordingly, he equals the firms aggregate standing of 30 years.

He has considerable experience and practical knowledge in Commercial and Corporate Law and all components including; Intellectual Property Law, International Law, Conveyancing and land transactions, Employment Law and Industrial Relations, International Trade Law, and Banking Law. He also practices litigation and scholarship related to Constitutional Law, Human Rights, and Environmental Law.

He offers advisory services on legal, regulatory and compliance requirements. He has been involved in major property transactions and offered due diligence services to a wide range of clients

Mr. Mutai holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (with honours) from the University of Nairobi and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He has also pursued a Post Qualification Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the University of the West Indies, Barbados. He is a qualified Certified Public Secretary (Kenya). He obtained a Masters in Law at the University of Nairobi in 2005, majoring in Telecommunications.

In his free time Mr. Mutai enjoys Sports specifically Golf, Squash, and Jogging. He is also a passionate farmer and participates in charity work.

EVELYN RUTH NJERI WERU

HEAD OF CONVEYANCING & CORPORATE

Evelyn Weru is an Associate Advocate at the firm’s Corporate, Commercial and Conveyancing Department. She is an experienced advocate of the High Court of Kenya who believes in pursuing excellence to achieve success. She has the tenacity to provide practical solutions for complex legal issues.

Evelyn joined Kiogora Mutai & Co. Advocates on 29th February 2016. She was admitted to the Bar on January 21, 2016. She undertook her pupilage at the firm of Kimani Kairu & Co. Advocates. She has served as an intern at the Nyeri Law Courts and at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority. She also volunteered at Transparency International Kenya (TI-Kenya).

In her free time, Evelyn enjoys giving back to the community by offering pro bono legal services and getting involved in community outreach forums together with contributing in civic education.

LENNY KABINGA

HEAD OF LITIGATION

Lenny is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He was admitted to the Bar in September 2019. Lenny is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). He joined the Firm in December 2020, bearing experience from previous Law firms.

Lenny is in charge of the firm’s Litigation Department where he practses civil and criminal litigation. Accordingly, Lenny continues our client-focused approach in labour cases, family and succession disputes, and commercial litigation.

He also has considerable knowledge of criminal litigation and commercial and corporate law including incorporation of companies, drafting and review of commercial agreements or contracts, preparation of legal opinions and drafting of legal and regulatory frameworks on behalf of corporate clients as well as conveyancing transactions such as preparation and perfection of bank security documents, preparation of leases and transfers. Following the firm’s decision to become a full service law firm Lenny handles these additional functions.

Apart from his litigation duties, Lenny offers excellent legal consultancy services on behalf of the firm.

NYBOMA IAN

TRAINEE ADVOCATE

Ian joined us in April 2021 as a Trainee Advocate. Ian obtained his LL.B Hons. from Moi University School of Law. He has completed the Advocates Training Program at Kenya School of Law. He is a Bar Candidate, awaiting admission to the Bar, having passed the 2021 CLE Bar Exams.
